There are several ways you can support the mission of Friends Homes through your time, talents, and resources.
As a non-profit organization dedicated to providing care for seniors at a reasonable cost, Friends Homes depends on the generosity of our supporters. Charitable gifts help us maintain our Resident Assistance Fund, purchase needed equipment, and maintain and expand our campus to meet current and future resident needs.
Charitable gifts may be made through individual giving, memorials and honorariums and planned giving arrangements.
Volunteers are also a significant part of the life of our community. At Friends Homes, volunteers help with a variety of jobs including working in our community store, assisting with activities, reading to residents, and more. Volunteering for organizations both on and off campus contributes to residents’ fulfilling sense of purpose.
Two years ago, Friends Homes’ Board of Trustees began a strategic community planning process, committing to engage residents and staff to boldly shape future direction. Planning has been intentional and based in the Quaker testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship at the core. Central to the vision is the imperative to update the Guilford campus, increase access for residents of the future by building new residential accommodations and improve community spaces – all without placing a financial burden on current residents. The Friends Homes’ Board of Trustees launched a $1.2 million Capital Campaign to raise private dollars to support the building of the Connector Bridge and establish a Resident Financial Assistance Endowment. Recently, the Board of Trustees announced the dedication of the Connector Bridge in honor of two stalwart families who have been leaders in the Quaker and Friends Homes community for decades and who exemplify building community and connection: Charlie and Mary Kirkman Routh and the late Carson and Janie Grantham.
