Friends Homes at Guilford sits on 20 acres
immdiately to the west of Guilford College. Residents have easy access to the
college library as well as the many bank branches and shopping venues within ½
mile of the complex. At this site there are 190 apartments, ranging in size from
studios with 335 square feet to two bedroom-deluxe apartments with 1352 sq. ft.
There are also ten cottages of varying sizes adjacent to the complex.
Professional health care is offered in a 52-room assisted living unit and a
69-bed (mostly private) skilled Medicare/Medicaid nursing facility. Common areas
and amenities include a central dining room, private dining rooms, library,
reading/chess room, gift and beauty/barber shops, solariums, activity/craft
rooms, exercise and fitness rooms, garden areas, and a nature trail.
Both campuses now offer Wellness Centers, complete with exercise equipment and access to a full-time Director to help each resident create an individualized fitness plan. Residents from both campuses share the large indoor swimming pool at Friends Homes West that features gradual steps for ease of entry and a whirlpool area.
There are several different entrance fee options for Friends Homes at Guilford ranging from $2000 to $125,000. The nursing facility is certified under the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Entrance fees for Friends Homes West range from $75,000 to $115,000, and are refundable on a declining basis for 8 years. Its nursing facility is certified under the Medicare program.
The monthly service fee covers one or two meals a day, all utilities except telephone, and maintenance and security services. The monthly independent living fees do not include medical care.The minimum age for apartments is 60. Individuals are admitted without regard to race, color, or national origin in keeping with Friends Homes' philosophy and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Applicants of all religious faiths are welcome. Applicants should be capable of complete self care. Apartment residents have priority for admission to other levels of care.
