Giving Opportunities

Make a Donation

Making a donation online is a quick and convenient way to show your support of the Friends Homes mission.

Friends Homes was incorporated in 1958 and began providing care more than 65 years ago. As we move into the future, your support is essential. Guided by Quaker principles, Friends Homes offers an environment which encourages independence and a sense of wholeness, wellness and security, at reasonable cost, so that each resident may live a fulfilling life. That’s our mission. Your giving makes it possible, and, with so many ways to give, we make it easy.

Ways to Give

Planned Giving

Planned giving arrangements can benefit both the donor and Friends Homes, Inc. (Federal Tax ID #56-0754599). In addition to potential income and tax advantages that often exist for the donor, those who make provisions for a future gift are invited to join our Friends of Friends Homes Legacy Circle. Planned giving options include:

  • Will or Living Trust
  • Charitable Remainder Trust
  • Charitable Gift Annuity
  • Retirement Plan
  • Life Insurance
  • Real Estate or other assets

For more information about making a charitable contribution, please contact Carson Spering, Associate Director of Development, by calling 336-458-0354, or by emailing cspering@friendshomes.org.

    Memorials, Honorariums, and Individual Gifts

Making a gift in honor of someone or as a memorial to honor a loved one is a wonderful way to recognize a special person while also supporting Friends Homes. Many times, residents or family members wish to direct memorial gifts to benefit Friends Homes. We are honored to receive gifts in memory of former residents. Please contact us if you need language that could be included in an obituary. One-time, individual charitable gifts to the Resident Financial Assistance Campaign or for any reason or occasion are also appreciated. If you would like to send your gift by writing a check, please make it payable to “Friends Homes Inc.” and mail to 925 New Garden Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.  If you have questions about gifting appreciated securities or other forms of giving, please reach out to Carson Spering, cspering@friendshomes.org. No gift is too large or too small to make a difference at Friends Homes.

Gifts Using the IRA Charitable Rollover

If you are 70 ½ or older you can give from your IRA in a way that may also personally benefit you. Please read document for more information.

Supporting the Mission of Friends Homes

There are several ways you can support the mission of Friends Homes through your time, talents, and resources.

As a non-profit organization dedicated to providing care for seniors at a reasonable cost, Friends Homes depends on the generosity of our supporters. Charitable gifts help us maintain our Resident Assistance Fund, purchase needed equipment, and maintain and expand our campus to meet current and future resident needs.

Charitable gifts may be made through individual giving, memorials and honorariums and planned giving arrangements.

Volunteers are also a significant part of the life of our community. At Friends Homes, volunteers help with a variety of jobs including working in our community store, assisting with activities, reading to residents, and more. Volunteering for organizations both on and off campus contributes to residents’ fulfilling sense of purpose.
